The mayor of Markham, Ont., is proud of how the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy went last weekend, even if there were major problems at the start.
Friday's full day of on-track activities at the IndyCar Series race was cancelled because the course around the Toronto suburb's downtown core wasn't yet completed or approved by safety inspectors.
But Frank Scarpitti says the lone ºÃÉ«tv race on the circuit was ultimately a success.
He says he was pleased with the positive reviews of the street course from the IndyCar drivers.
It was the first year Markham has hosted the event after it was moved from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since 1986.
Sweden's Marcus Ericsson won the race on Sunday.
