Bernard Wessels, global safety head for Newmont Corp., says natural air is flowing to three workers trapped underground at the Red Chris mine site about 500 kilometres northwest of Terrace, B.C. He says there appears to be a stable route to them behind the rockfall that cut them off, and the company’s focus is on restoring communications to the refuge chamber so they can safely bring them back to the surface.
