SASKATOON - Police have identified a Jet Ski rider who went missing in the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon over the weekend as a 32-year-old man visiting from Mexico.
Police say investigators are in contact with the family of Adan Vargas Salvador and the search continues along the river for his body.
The police service says his family requested that his photograph and name be released.
Police say officers responded to numerous calls Saturday about a Jet Ski driver in distress near the weir on the South Saskatchewan River.
The city’s fire department water rescue crews also responded to search for the man, as well as aerial support from Saskatoon police.
Residents are being advised to stay away from the river due to increased water levels and speed.
