The heavy rain is expected to last through much of Thursday. 

The warning also covers the Sea to Sky Highway, where Environment Canada says rain may exceed 50 millimetres.

It is cautioning motorists of possible water pooling in low-lying areas of the roadway and of landslides in vulnerable areas, creating possible hazardous driving conditions with little warning.

The North Shore, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge areas of Metro Vancouver are expecting up to 60 millimetres of rain, stemming from a slow-moving Pacific frontal system moving across B.C.'s south coast.
