S&P/TSX composite down more than 70 points, U.S. stock markets in negative territory

TORONTO - Canada's main stock index was lower in late-morning trading on Wednesday amid broad-based losses, while U.S. markets also moved lower. 

The S&P/TSX composite index was down 82.69 points at 31,784.42.
