Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to unveil the Trump administration’s new financial campaign against Iran on Monday at 1 p.m. ET as the U.S. marks nearly six months of its war against the country. While the administration is promising an “economic D-Day,” Iran has has withstood nearly five decades of punishing American sanctions. Ahead of the announcement, Iran’s currency hit a record low, dropping to 2.02 million to the U.S. dollar as trading opened on currency markets.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned on Monday that to expanded U.S. sanctions, after the that Tehran will see any country’s support for against the Islamic Republic as an “act of war.”
