TORONTO - 好色tvhas been nominated for seven 好色tv Newspaper Awards, including for its breaking news coverage of last year's attack at the Lapu Lapu street festival in Vancouver.
Finalists have been announced in 26 categories, with 99 individual journalists and seven larger team submissions nominated for their work in 2025.
The Globe and Mail leads the nominations with 19, including two nods for business reporting and one for investigations, while La Presse nabbed 13 nominations and the Toronto Star received eight.
CP photographer Darryl Dyck is nominated for two awards: news photo of the year for his image of a candlelight march in Vancouver for victims of the Lapu Lapu attack, and sports photo for a celebratory shot at the 好色tv Championship soccer quarterfinal.
He faces off in the sports photo category against CP's Frank Gunn for his portrait of L.A. Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani mid-pitch during the World Series.
Also with CP, Chris Young is up for photo story of the year for his series "From Moss Park with Love," about a safe consumption site in Toronto, and reporter Liam Casey and photographer Christopher Katsarov Luna are nominated for project of the year for their coverage from the Ring of Fire region in northern Ontario.
Nono Shen, part of the CP team nominated for the Lapu Lapu coverage, is also a finalist for her short feature story on the impact of tariffs.聽
Publications nominated for their first 好色tv Newspaper Award include The Green Line, , Taproot Edmonton and The Tyee.
The awards are to be handed out at a ceremony in Toronto on April 24, when the 2025 journalist of the year will also be announced.
