THE CANADIAN PRESS/Jason Franson JF SMS Email Print Copy article link Save BURNABY - A man has been killed in Burnaby, B.C., in what police are describing as a targeted shooting.RCMP say police responded to calls about shots being fired on Canada Way at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoonOfficers found an injured man, who died at the scene despite emergency life-saving efforts from responders.Police also found a burning vehicle on Buxton Street shortly after the shooting, and investigators are looking into whether the cases are linked. Investigators say early indications suggest the shooting was likely targeted and there's no increased risk to the public.Homicide investigators have taken over the case and are asking for anyone with information or dashcam footage of nearby areas to come forward.This report by ºÃÉ«tvwas first published Jan. 23, 2026.
