Marino rallies to win U.S. Open women's singles qualifier, Branstine bounced

NEW YORK - Rebecca Marino of Vancouver started strong, faded, then scrambled to survive two match points before rallying to save her bid to qualify for the 145th U.S. Open Tennis Championships on Monday.

Marino won the first set of her women's singles match 6-3 in 31 minutes against Lanlana Tararudee, but then lost 6-2 and was down 5-3 to the 21-year-old from Thailand before rallying for a 7-5 win in a match that took two hours, 11 minutes to complete.
