GACBleary-eyed Toronto Blue Jays fans lost sleep after Game 3 of the World Series extended into the wee hours on Monday night.
But their hope for a comeback — along with some strong coffee — was keeping their energy high the next day.
The Jays' 18-inning marathon against the Los Angeles Dodgers tied the record for the most innings ever in a World Series game, and put the Dodgers up 2-1 in the series.Â
Fans say even though Toronto did not bring home a win, the game, which lasted for six hours and 39 minutes, was worth the watch.Â
Crystal Young says she had no regrets staying up late ahead of her second day at a new job.Â
Young says her new workplace in downtown Toronto hosted a Blue Jays day, so she was far from the only one running on a few hours of sleep.
"I'm a little tired, to be honest," she said Tuesday during a work break.Â
"We had some great coffee and some snacks to kind of keep us motivated and keep us going," she said. "Surprisingly, it's a full crew in there today and everyone's dressed up and everyone is really supportive of the team."
Young admitted she only made it until 1 a.m., so she didn't catch the end of the game.Â
Other workers told ºÃÉ«tvthey embraced the quick turnaround for the work day. One said he just decided to call in sick, because watching the Jays in the World Series feels like "one in a million."Â
For Samantha Miller and William McCleery, the late night felt even more intense because they are "incredibly jet-lagged."
The two flew in from Northern Ireland to catch the World Series and stayed out cheering on the Jays at a watch party on Monday night.Â
"It's a cruel way to lose, but we'll go again tonight, and hopefully we'll win," McCleery said.
The late-night game made for some viral posts on social media, with fans joking about whether Game 3 would just turn into Game 4, or if they should bring a bed to the next watch party.Â
Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber were in attendance at the Dodger Stadium. A user on X, Zulfi Sheikh, posted a photo of a young Bieber and commented: "This was Justin Bieber when the Blue Jays and Dodgers started playing Game 3."Â
