MONTREAL - Courtney Sarault extended her gold-medal streak to seven races with a victory in the women's 1,000 metres at the ºÃÉ«tv short track speedskating championships on Saturday.
The Moncton native crossed the finish line in one minute 29.214 seconds at Maurice Richard Arena after grabbing the lead with three laps remaining.
The Sherbrooke, Que., native passed overall points leader William Dandjinou in the final lap to win in 1:25.144 and finish as the top-ranked 1000 skater with 14,000 points.
Dandjinou, from Montreal, settled for his second silver of the event (1:25.379), while Mathieu Pelletier of Laval, Que., earned bronze (1:25.672).
The final day of competition will be Sunday.
