Police in Durham Region say Canada's defence department was called in Wednesday to help remove a small Second World War-era bomb that was found on a foot path in Oshawa, Ont.

Police were called to the scene near Gibb Street and Centre Street South just before 4:30 p.m. for a report of a suspicious package with wiring and warning labels on a walking path.
