Statistics Canada to release consumer price index for May this morning

OTTAWA - A third straight month of rising gas prices from the war in Iran pushed the annual rate of inflation above three per cent for the first time since 2023, Statistics Canada said Monday.

The annual rate of inflation jumped to 3.2 per cent in May, up from 2.8 per cent in April and topping most economists’ expectations.
