LONDON (AP) 鈥 The stars of 鈥淏ridgerton,鈥 Netflix鈥檚 Regency-era drama rife with romance and heartbreak, offered some dating and relationship advice for fans looking for love.
Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, who dominate the third season鈥檚 storyline with their friends-to-lovers story arc. At Wednesday's London premiere for the second part which on Thursday, the pair joked about how fans often suspect that they are dating in real life because of their on-screen chemistry.
鈥淲e can鈥檛 do anything,鈥 Coughlan quipped after noting that it鈥檚 often a 鈥渞eflex鈥 for her to interact with Newton in a friendly manner because they鈥檝e known each other for many years. Newton said that the speculation points to fans鈥 investment in their characters鈥 relationship.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really sweet, it鈥檚 so lovely that there鈥檚 that much thought into it and how much they ship Colin and Pen,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a beautiful thing.鈥
The 鈥楤ridgerton鈥 cast鈥檚 advice for finding (and keeping) love
With their character鈥檚 dreamy (and steamy) relationship Coughlan offered some advice to viewers looking for their own storybook romance.
鈥淒on鈥檛 compromise yourself,鈥 she said. 鈥淲ait for the right person because you鈥檙e worth it.鈥
Newton said he 鈥渁greed with all of the above.鈥 Here鈥檚 the advice the rest of the cast shared for the romantics watching 鈥淏ridgerton鈥:
Simone Ashley, who of the second season鈥檚 storyline, said watching the show makes viewers 鈥渨ant to fall in love.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 very hopeful, and it makes you believe. It really captures your imagination and your heart again,鈥 Ashley said. 鈥淭he same feeling that the show brings 鈥 pass that on to someone else. Make someone else feel as amazing as the show makes you feel.鈥
Golda Rosheuvel, who plays said communication is 鈥渆verything鈥 in a relationship and noted that in this season, communication is vital to keeping Colin and Penelope鈥檚 relationship alive. 鈥淟ove wins every time,鈥 she added.
The Shonda Rhimes, said fans should 鈥渞aise (their) standards.鈥 She noted that the men on "Bridgerton" are 鈥渟upportive and loving and all know how to dress and dance,鈥 adding that she wants 鈥渢o feel like those guys are out there.鈥
Ruth Gemmell offered some simple, maternal advice, much like her character, Lady Violet Bridgerton, would: 鈥淏e true to yourself.鈥
Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton, shared some wisdom that diverged from the idealist advice some of her co-stars gave, saying, 鈥淩omanticism has probably messed us up a bit.鈥
鈥淭he majority of your life is going to be figuring out domestic things and that鈥檚 really not sexy and it鈥檚 boring, but it鈥檚 really a massive part of life,鈥 she said. 鈥淪o romance, whilst it鈥檚 beautiful, don鈥檛 rely on it for the rest of your life.鈥
Newcomer Hannah Dodd, who took over the role of Francesca Bridgerton this season, laughed when asked about dating advice.
鈥淒on鈥檛 ask me that,鈥 she said, seeming to allude she might be seeking dating advice, as well.
While his character Lord Marcus Anderson may seem like a bit of a player, Daniel Francis shared some sage advice on how to find a good match.
鈥淭here鈥檚 three things: Know what you want, know why you want it 鈥 and this is a tricky one for a lot of people, but I truly believe in this 鈥 you got to make sure you鈥檙e fishing in the right pond,鈥 he said.
