LOS ANGELES (AP) 鈥 Kevin Hart will keep his comedic candor going with SiriusXM. But this time he鈥檒l bring along more recognizable figures from outside the comedy realm.
The satellite radio company announced Wednesday that it has signed Hart and his entertainment company, Hartbeat, to a multi-year deal. As part of the deal, the superstar actor-comedian will continue to curate content involving comedy and culture on his
鈥淎t the end of the day, this is a great partnership,鈥 Hart said in a recent interview with The Associated Press. 鈥淲hen you put yourself in a position to create partnerships that will last and can grow, those are the big wins. You鈥檙e looking at a relationship that has evolved, that is growing and going in the right direction. I think this is one where the hard work has been put into the growth of the station and the platform is just paying off.鈥
Hart will host his podcast 鈥淕old Minds with Kevin Hart,鈥 a rebranded show that will premiere its new season Wednesday on SiriusXM. Some comedians will still occasionally appear on his show, but he鈥檒l feature more conversations with notable figures including Emmy winner Jason Bateman, 鈥淏lack Panther鈥 director actor-rapper Method Man, filmmaker Neil Burger along with broadcast journalists Anderson Cooper and Stephen A. Smith.
In the 鈥淕old Minds鈥 premiere, Hart will speak with Coogler about his career journey, working with and receiving guidance from Denzel Washington, Forrest Whitaker, Sylvester Stallone and Christopher Nolan.
Hart said he felt compelled to rebrand 鈥淕old Minds鈥 because he wanted to expand beyond comedy to a 鈥渓arger pool of individuals with interesting stories.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 going further to entrepreneurs, big businessmen, TV personalities, amazing actors, actresses, directors. It鈥檚 expanding,鈥 he said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a volume of people out there that should be talked to, and there鈥檚 not a volume of people that can truly access them properly and execute after getting to them. I think I鈥檓 one of the few that have this opportunity and I鈥檓 taking advantage of it. I want people to enjoy these authentic conversations.鈥
Hartbeat will produce the slate of new programs including 鈥淟ove Thang with Punkie Johnson鈥 and 鈥淥ne Song with Diallo and Luxxury,鈥 hosted by HBO Max鈥檚 鈥淪outh Side鈥 co-creator Diallo Riddle and music producer Blake 鈥淟uxxury鈥 Robin. His channel will exclusively release the late comedian Bernie Mac鈥檚 first-ever solo standup special.
Comedian Nathaniel 鈥淓arthquake鈥 Stroman will return to Hart鈥檚 channel for the fifth season of his show
Hart along with 鈥 including Joey Wells, Will 鈥淪pank鈥 Horton, Harry Ratchford, Wayne Brown and Na鈥檌m Lynn 鈥 will continue to host
鈥淜evin has become a cornerstone of SiriusXM鈥檚 comedy programming, and we鈥檙e absolutely thrilled to deepen our relationship with Kevin and the whole Hartbeat team,鈥 said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM鈥檚 president and chief content officer. 鈥淎s they鈥檝e proven time and again, they have their finger on the pulse of the new, exciting, diverse voices in comedy, and our audience has clearly responded.鈥
When Hart signed his first deal with SiriusXM in 2018, he envisioned at least a decade-long relationship where can have a 鈥渟ignificant stance鈥 and create his own 鈥渧ersion of identity.鈥
鈥淲hen I look at what Howard Stern has been able to do over the years throughout his career and how he developed into an amazing entity, I say to myself 鈥楬ow do I do the same? How do I follow suit?鈥欌 Hart said.
鈥淚n doing it, you got to make sure that you鈥檙e willing to put in the time. This isn鈥檛 a two-year plan, a three-year plan. This is a 10 year overall commitment knowing what it will take to get to the place where you want to go. This is well planned out. I鈥檓 trying my best to execute it.鈥
