Furniture designer crafts a chair named 'solace' to aid those harmed by Fiona's wrath

HALIFAX - Furniture designer Jonathan Otter has created a chair that represents a hurricane's devastating power 鈥 and the support needed after one hits a community 鈥 as part of a fundraiser for those rebuilding from post-tropical storm Fiona.

His work, crafted from a Nova Scotia red oak downed by the storm that made landfall Sept. 24, 2022, is up for auction at a starting bid of $30,000. It is one of three artistic creations being sold to provide funds for storm victims.
